Privacy Policy

We store a pupil's first name, last name and sign-in username, her accessibility choices, course enrolments, learning progress, saved activity responses and course achievements. We also store a separate gender answer linked to her pupil account, as described below.

We never ask for, or store, a pupil's email address, phone number or home address.

Names and usernames help authorised teachers recognise their pupils. Learning records let pupils continue their courses, review saved work and receive credit for their achievements. Accessibility choices help the platform display content in the way each pupil has chosen.

We ask which gender you identify as to help build social impact reports, measure programme reach, support schools and educational programmes, raise funds, create partnerships and support equal access. You can choose Prefer not to say, and you can read and change your own answer in Settings.

Your answer is stored separately from your name and username. Teachers, school administrators and InnovateHer Editors cannot view gender answers or gender reports through the platform. InnovateHer Admins receive school and course-participation totals with small counts and an additional count hidden where needed. These reports do not include individual pupils' answers.

Pupils with an existing account receive Prefer not to say as an initial default and can change it in Settings. New pupils choose an answer during onboarding. Returning pupils can defer an expired-answer renewal for the current visit and are asked again on their next visit.

Access depends on an active role and the pupil relationship. A pupil's teachers, school administrators within her school and authorised InnovateHer Admins can access the pupil records needed for their work. Other pupils and unrelated teachers cannot view those records. InnovateHer Editors receive authorised reporting totals rather than individual pupil records. Gender information follows the separate restrictions above.

A pupil's real name appears on her own course-completion certificate. She can download it and choose to share her achievement with family, teachers or future opportunities.

A gender answer expires two years after it was last saved. The expiry task deletes expired answers; reading your own answer also removes it if it has expired. Missing or expired answers are reported as Unanswered, and we ask again at sign-in. This is separate from retention of accounts and learning responses.
